Technology is not merely a tool

I barely attended a ( fabulous ) conference exactly where the key note speaker created the purpose that technology is simply a tool. currently believe it or do not, i've heard that before. i've even aforesaid it myself. i perceive the purpose that everybody is making an attempt in order to make. it isnt extremely relating to the technology it's relating to the pedagogy, technology really should be like oxygen, the technology shouldnt return initial, etc. etc. etc.

everything is true, other then extremely technology is not simply a tool. marshall mcluhan famously aforesaid the medium happens to be the message. the technology tools we use impact teaching and learning in additional ways than we realize. we use these tools as standing symbols ( as i write this all over my new chromebook ) and as political statements ( are you a mac or maybe a pc ? ). the tools we use send several messages on exactly who we are as learners and teachers and schools. are you a 1 to firmly 1 laptop faculty, an ipad faculty, a virtual faculty, are you an innovative teacher, a conventional teacher, are you a 21st century teacher ?

we shouldnt fool ourselves that these things dont matter. they actually do. the a lot of we are cognizant of the messages we send throughout the tools we simply use, the higher able we are to firmly send the proper messages.
